Minimum Check-In Time

You should  present  yourself   for  check-in  at the airport of departure at  least 120 minutes (2 hours) prior to scheduled departure  time. (It is advisable  to phone ahead to confirm if the flight is expected to depart on time. For flight information at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, call:445-3200). 

Exception: US passengers arriving in Amman via scheduled carriers connecting with Royal Jordanian flights, where all  journey stages are included on the same  ticket need to check in only 60 minutes (1 hour) prior to departure.  Minimum check-in times should not be confused with airport connection times (consult Reservations.)


Advanced Boarding Pass In Jordan
A recent, complimentary service to facilitate check-in procedures for Royal Jordanian passengers departing from Jordan. Avoids airport queues!

1- At certain sales offices in Jordan, you can pay your airport departure tax and guarantee your seat assignment, within 24 hours before scheduled RJ flight departure time.  

2- Once you obtain your advance boarding pass (ABP), it means you will definitely occupy that seat on that flight. Should you later be unable to make the flight, you  must  notify the Royal  Jordanian  issuing  office  within  6  hours  before  flight  departure  time, in order to process the flight coupon and ticket for re-use at a later date.

At the City Terminal you can:

•Check-in and receive your boarding pass.
•Pay your airport departure tax.
•Check all your baggage.
•Visit with friends or family saying farewell.
•Enjoy a snack.
•Shop or relax.

Upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, you will breeze through a  special gate to airport immigration and can proceed directly to your airport departure gate.

All Royal Jordanian passengers can choose when/how you  want  to  check - in  through  the  City  Terminal :

Same day check-in, 2 hours prior to scheduled flight departure time.
Advance check-in, up to 24 hours prior to your flight.

NOTE: Passengers traveling to Beirut are required to check-in their baggage one day ahead of scheduled departure.

Baggage & Excess Baggage
General Tips:

  • Personal baggage should contain personal items only.
  • Carry commercial samples at your own risk.
  • Use good quality luggage. It will not damage easily and  will  last longer.
  • Label each piece of baggage inside and outside with your name/address
    at your destination.
  • Lock your baggage.
  • Remove old destination tags.
  • Hand-carry valuable items, important documents, cash and medications.
  • Do not pack more than one piece of hand luggage.
  • Upon arrival, be careful to pick up your own bags. Many bags appear similar;
    always check the tags against your copy of the  baggage check  tags.
  • In case of missing luggage, you must report it to the baggage services
    desk in the arrivals lounge BEFORE you leave the airport.

Free Baggage Allowances are Based on Paid Fare and Destination:

  • Adults and  children  paying at least  50% of adult fare are entitled to  the normal free baggage allowance. Infants traveling at 10% of adult fare have no free allowance, with the exception of one carry-on bag of items for the trip and a collapsible push chair/stroller, totaling no more than 5 kg (11 lb).
  • Free baggage allowances:

          To/from the USA, only, for All Classes:

  • Two pieces of checked baggage, the three dimensions of each not exceeding 158 cm (63") and the maximum weight of each is 32 kg
    (70.5 lb), and one piece of carry-on baggage, total dimensions not exceeding 115 cm (45"), total weight not more than 5 kg (11 lb)

On all other Royal Jordanian flights:

  • First Class: 40 kg (88 lb) per person
  • Crown Class: 30 kg (66 lb) per person
  • Economy Class: 20 kg (44 lb) per person

Baggage in excess of the above allowances is subject to an excess charge and can only be carried subject to space and weight availability.

  • Pooling of Baggage:

Where two or  more passengers traveling as one party to a common destination or point of stopover by the same flight, whether or not in the same class, present themselves & their baggage for travel at the same time and place, they will be permitted to a total free baggage allowance equal to the combination of their individual free baggage allowances.
